Description
Avoin is a Finnish non-profit organisation developing open-source digital tools, geospatial databases and map-based web applications for sustainability, environmental assessment and decision support. Avoin’s work focuses on making complex environmental and spatial data usable through open, interoperable and practical online services for farmers, landowners, public authorities, researchers, companies and civil society.
Role in the project
Avoin leads the development of the FAIR-compliant database in WP2. The database supports the integration of MAGHub ground-truth data, project-generated datasets, Earth Observation-derived layers and relevant data from open-access repositories.
Avoin also contributes to the development and testing of improved digital-tool functionalities, including Avoin Farm Map. The tool will integrate remote-sensing data and ecosystem-service analytics into prototype systems for grassland management and multifunctionality assessment.
This work supports GrassConnect’s objective of improving ecosystem-service monitoring and decision-support tools for farmers, advisors, value-chain actors and policymakers.
