Description
Dating back to 1222, the University of Padua is one of the oldest and most prestigious seats of learning in Europe and has a long tradition and consolidated reputation for scientific excellence. Its 32 departments, 40 doctoral degree courses and 44 interdisciplinary research centers with more than 2300 professors and researchers employed, cover an exceptionally broad research scope including Arts & Humanities, Social Sciences, Engineering, Physics, Technology, Life Sciences, Medicine, Natural Sciences.
UNIPD has participated in 284 Horizon 2020 actions receiving a total budget of more than € 104M, and has been involved in more than 50 projects in other EU programmes for a budget of around € 7M. Since the beginning of Horizon Europe, UNIPD has been assigned more than 330 grants receiving a total budget of more than € 147M, and has been involved in more than 30 projects in other EU programmes for a budget of around € 8M.
The UNIPD unit will include professors and researchers working at the Department of Agronomy, Food, Natural Resources, Animals and Environment – DAFNAE.
Role in the project
The University of Padova participates in all GrassConnect work packages except WP7. It coordinates the activities of the northern Italian MAGHub in collaboration with farmers’ associations.
Within WP2, UNIPD contributes to identifying, developing and validating relevant indicators for regulating and cultural ecosystem services at farm and landscape levels.
Within WP4, UNIPD leads Task 4.3, which focuses on refining management strategies for the MAGHub regions in relation to the STEP packages. It is also responsible for Deliverable D4.3, providing recommendations on STEP packages.
