The Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP) is the only Brussels-based think tank specialised in environmental policy and sustainability. Established in 1976, IEEP has advised generations of experts and policymakers since the very beginning of European environmental legislation. As an independent, unbiased, impartial, and evidence-based institute, IEEP is committed to supporting organisations to better navigate the European environmental policy landscape and advance impact-driven sustainability policy across the EU and beyond.
IEEP multidisciplinary team works with EU institutions, international organisations, business, academia, and civil society, providing integrated approaches and multiple perspectives across several research areas and amongst the three priorities: Nature and Sustainable Food Systems, Climate and Zero Pollution.
Role in the project
IEEP leads Work Package 4, which co-assesses the social, technical, economic and policy-related—STEP—drivers shaping grassland management across Europe.
Working with the project’s 13 Multi-Actor Grassland Hubs, IEEP leads the co-design of the framework and content of the project’s STEP packages. These packages combine different drivers around stakeholder priorities for the ecosystem services provided by grasslands. IEEP also contributes to refining grassland-management strategies in relation to these packages.
IEEP leads the formulation of policy recommendations, translating the project’s findings into actionable proposals for MAGHub regions, national governments and the European Union. It also supports stakeholder engagement and the development of policy briefs as part of the project’s dissemination activities.
